Edible Landscape
(Edible Landscape)

2022 - 2023

cooperation: Batory Foundation, Stocznia Foundation, Akademia Foundation of Civic Organizations

cooperation: FAM Agency

Project Partners: Gietrzwałd Commune, Stawiguda Commune, The Farmer’s Wives’ Association in Nowa Wieś "Nowalijki", City of Reykjavik

In the years 2022-2023, we are implementing a project called Edible Landscape. Its goal is to integrate, activate and educate local communities of suburbs near Olsztyn (the communes of Gietrzwałd, Stawiguda, and Purda).

It is planned to build 10 open, social, edible gardens - places of neighborhood integration created together with the residents. We will conduct lectures and gardening workshops. We will look for inspiration and good role models... in Iceland! We will conduct a campaign on social media and will record educational videos translated into English, Icelandic, and Polish sign language.

The project is funded by the program Active Citizens - National Fund financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway as part of the EEA Grants.

NOWA WIEŚ

As part of the #EdibleLandscape project - Active Citizens Program - National Fund, we have established official cooperation with 4 partners. The first one is the Office of Urban Areas and Roads, Department of Environment and Planning in Reykjavik (Iceland) Reykjavíkurborg, where we will go on study visits. We will learn how to run community gardens well and how to involve residents in gardening activities.

The partners of the project are also the Commune of Gietrzwałd, the Commune of Stawiguda, and the Farmer's Housewives' Circle in Nowa Wieś Nowalijki, which own the land on which the gardens will be built. We also want to encourage local organizations in Olsztyn county to cooperate.
